No More Surprise Medical Bills Starting January 2022

Beginning this January, the federal No Surprises Act, passed in 2020, will protect patients from surprise medical bills.

A surprise medical bill is an unexpected medical cost associated with out-of-network healthcare providers when a patient unknowingly obtains health care outside his or her plan’s provider network. The No Surprises Act generally ensures patients are billed no more than they would have paid if those providers were in-network.

The Pennsylvania Department of Insurance will help administer and enforce the No Surprises Act. More information is available here.

From my family to yours!

I hope you have a Merry Christmas filled with joy and blessings.
